It only takes a few minutes, can be done with basic household items that most of us already have, and only costs $5 or less.

This project is so simple you can do it while watching TV. The only tools you'll need are an ordinary length of electrical wire, and pliers or wire cutters.

When I bought my projector I was shocked by how dim the headlights were. They just weren't bright enough and I knew the bulbs were probably just old, so I went looking for a fix. There are several options on the market but they're all pretty expensive:

Scosche's Silverstar LED headlights, aftermarket LED headlights with built in video processing (Nissan Ultra Low Profiles Projector Headlights, etc.), and projector headlights with built in video processing (Matrox & Digital Fusion) that are generally expensive to start with.

I didn't want to spend a lot of money, but I also wanted something that was easy to install and looked good.

I ended up deciding to go the DIY route since I figured the $5 spent on these materials would be an acceptable cost if they failed in the long run. It was also a lot easier than buying new bulbs.

I ended up using black electrical tape and duct tape because I had both on hand. If you don't have both, any black tape should do (even electrical tape). I put circular pieces of tape on the corners of my headlights so it looked like projector eyes.

If you happen to have projector headlights, then you can't help but notice how dim they are by daylight. It's difficult to see anything while driving home after a long night at work when the sun has risen and it's time to get going. There is a way to make your headlights brighter so that you can see what is actually happening in front of you, but it takes some effort.

Pour some vinegar into an empty water bottle and blow into the bottle. This will blow the vinegar out of the bottle, since it's heavier than air. The vinegar will also blow any bugs or other pollutants out of the headlight as well.

Raise your headlights as high as possible, and you can clean both headlights by slowly turning in a circle from left to right.

Make sure that you are careful not to just pour vinegar on your vehicle. Pay attention to what you are doing, wipe off excess any time that happens, and carefully check for any puddles afterward. Put on some goggles if you have them for protection against vinegar in your eyes.

Take a toothbrush and scrub the headlight with it until all of the grime is off of it. Use a dry toothbrush with no soap and no water to do this.

You can clean the headlights this way, but you will have to repeat it at least once every few months, because new dust and dirt will keep accumulating. If you want to be thorough about it, you can dampen a cotton ball before scrubbing and wipe the entire headlight with it until all of the grime is gone.

If your headlight starts to turn bright orange after cleaning, then you may have broken one of the lenses in there. Follow steps 1-3 again, but make sure that you have a plastic bag over one certain lens before scrubbing.
